Self Installation Information
Directly vertical
All vertical lifts should rise as directly above the unit as possible. Any initial horizontal run from the unit prior to a vertical lift should not exceed 30cm. Only one lift is permitted, at the start of the run, with a 1:200 fall from the high point.
Not direct fall
Where the point of discharge into the soil stack is significantly lower than the base of the unit, an anti-syphon valve will need to be fitted at the highest point in the pipe run in order to avoid syphonage of the water seal in the unit. Alternatively use larger bore pipework for the vertical drop to ‘break’ the syphon.
Bends
Bends should be ‘smooth’ and not ‘elbows’. When utilising cpvc plastic 22mm pipework we recommend 2 bends together to form a right angle. Ensure all pipework susceptible to freezing is adequately lagged.
Electricity
Before attempting any maintenance or servicing, the units must be disconnected from the electricity supply. The electrical connection is via an unswitched fixed wiring connector with a 5 amp fuse.
Inlet pipework
The units generally accept waste water by gravity. They do not suck in water. All pipework into the units must have a positive gravity fall (1:40). Exceptions are Vite and Best which will also accept pumped waste from dishwasher or washing machine.
Easy access
The unit should be easily accessible and removable in the event of maintenance being required.
Discharge pipework
To avoid dipping and build up of residual water and subsequent blockage all discharge pipework should be supported in accordance with manufacturers specifications and installed with a minimum 1:200 fall to the soilstack.
All pipework should be either copper or CPVC conforming to BS7291.
Do not use flexible or push-fit pipework.
For long horizontal runs where 22mm pipework is used this should be increased to 32mm after approximately 12 metres to eliminate risk of trap siphonage. NB: Our pumping systems are designed for the disposal of normal organic waste product, water or paper. They are not intended to replace kitchen waste or sanitary waste disposal units.
